Sennheiser IE 7 In-Ear Monitor Earphones Review

This is my first experience with Sennheiser, and I have to admit, I’m impressed. I have had and currently possess, many models of Shure, Westone, all the entry level junk at one point or another and finally my new Future Sonic Atrios. I use these in an extremely noisy industrial environment so noise isolation is key if I am to hear anything reasonably. These unfortunately even with the Comply tips are only barely adequate in that realm. The design is an ‘in ear’ similar to the uplevel Apple buds where it rests in the outer part of the ear canal. This results in a very comfortable fit, not fatiguing, and possibly safer for those around town as there is more sound let through. However I prefer the ‘in the canal’ style of the Westone, Shure, and Future Sonic, they just work better for me with better noise isolation. The other minor beef I have with these earphones is the efficiency, they have to be pretty well cranked to match the Westone products which are by far the most efficient I have used. This contributes to lower output volume and a longer battery life in portables like the iPod. That said the sound on these is really impressive. These are premium headphones and the build quality appears to be quite good. I’m tempted to try the ie8’s for more bass (simple low frequency response NOT booming bass), as these although decent, and could be helped with an EQ, are really quite good in all other areas. If noise isolation isn’t key and the in-canal style is uncomfortable for you give these a try, just be sure to ‘burn them in’ for twenty to thirty hours before you critique.

These are the best earbuds I have ever purchased. I moved up from Sennheiser’s mid-grade to this and just cannot believe the sound quality. I went on a 12+ hour flight and had them in virtually the whole time without any discomfort and great noise suppression. Let’s just say that I’m rediscovering my music collection and hear things that I have never heard before. I bought these based on the reviews and had not ever listened to them. I did however go to a Bose store and sampled their best headphones and have to say that these blow them away by a long shot. Buy these and you won’t regret it.

Just tried the Sleek Audio SA6’s. These are so much better. I can honestly hear stuff that I have never heard before in music. I’m bought them to use for in ear monitoring in my band though. Haven’t used them for that yet but I’m sure I’ll be happy.

In short (if that is possible when you are writing about this product, but here is my take on the IE7.
Truly exceptional quality,in built, design, and foremost this monitors are made for music.(Not that you couldn’t listen anything else of course, but music is what they are precisely made for).
I’ve had them for 3 months now,and simply have them anywhere I go with me.Im a composer, and really appreciate all music(the sound of music),all sound, anything that’s not just “noise’(if you know what I mean).
The Sennheiser IE7,is absolutely beyond what I expected in ear bud headphones, amazing,is the least to say!
1.Highs and lows-check.(What a bass!…),wait till you hear it!!!
2.Mids-check(I read other people reviews about mids in general, and complaining, how they are “missing”,or been “weak”,how much mids really can u “find” in headphones 3.Fit,build,material-check. 4.Design-check. 5.Detail-check.(about that,if you get those, which I highly recommend ,You will hear things from ur songs, music, whatever You are listening to,that You have been missing before, simply by lack in performance for your headphone product. In other words you’ll discover listening same music,in a whole different level. Interesting experience, right when I bought them,I was blown-a-way buy it,and said, well let see if its just me,and had my colleague, and two buddy’s trying them on,they were like “Whhoa, this things are LOUD man”,had to turn the volume way down,so they can keep’em on . Well, after all that been said,my dear readers,if you are shopping around,I think you are at the end of ur road,This is DDEE product!Im set as far as ear buds go. Have a pair of Sony dynamics, not even close. Enjoy it to the fullest.
