Solar panels always have a set of specs such as Open circuit voltage, Short circuit current, and an operating current at a particular operating voltage while being illuminated with a standard luminous flux.
Nothing like that is given and in fact I can only get a maximum of 3.8 watts out of this panel at high noon during the summer. The comments on here questioning the weather resistance is worrisome. Amazon should pull this product.

Used too keep a battery charged on an outdoor stored ATV, just like the picture on the packaging, after the winter months it stops working. I try to troubleshoot the item and the screws holding the body together have plastic caps over them. Upon trying to pry out the glass breaks on the solar panel. My suggestion for Coleman if making an inferior product make it easier to repair. Do not buy if plan on using outside.

I’ve had this about 2 months, and it seems to work. I leave it sitting on the dash board of my car that I only rarely drive. Because the car operates a clock and a few electric devices all the time, the battery would drain down. This keeps the battery fully-charged.
It has a long wire that plugs into the cigarette lighter. I leave it plugged in even when I’m driving (it has a diode to protect it from reverse current flow). Thus, it couldn’t be easier to use.

Does what it says it will do. Pleased with this solar charger. Perfect for cars and boats. The blue LED provides a notice to show the panel is working ok. Good value for money.

I hard wired this into my vehicle,velcroed it to my dash. Works great! Had a problem ,too many accessories and not enough driving. Now battery is always freshly topped off.

This product was purchased to maintain the charge on a battery in a vehicle that is seldom driven. It works fine. Please note that it is not designed to charge a battery that is low, only maintain the charge. If you need a charger, consider a model that produces more power (watts). The unit is fairly small and has an LED to indicate it is producing power. I would buy it again.

I almost didn’t buy this because of the 1-star reviews — but then I noticed those reviewers were just ignorant. (Uninformed Amazon reviewers?!, gosh what a shock…). I used a fuse tap to install an always-on 12V cigarette lighter adapter in my SUV for this panel. The 1 or 1.5 volt trickle is enough to keep my battery topped off indefinitely, even after 2 and 3 weeks of just sitting in the driveway (whereas my battery would sometimes be almost dead after sitting for a week). Almost bought the 5-volt unit for twice as much, but this is half the size and turned out to work just fine.

The product description states clearly that this little device can be used in all weather conditions.
When unpacked, this does not appear to be the case, and when you read the instructions, on the bottom of the page in small print it says that the product in NOT to be used outdoors unprotected!
For a device that is meant to keep a battery ‘topped up’, typically devices that are not near shelter (snow blowers, tractors, automatic entrance gates, etc) this seems like a fatal design flaw!
Other than that – the device seems to work fine as a trickle charger.

Regardless of what the Amazon listing says (and I asked them to change it over a month ago and still haven’t) this product is NOT weatherproof. When you open the package the literature about the product specifically states that it is “not for use outdoors”. You have to pay more to get a weatherproof model.

I ordered one Coleman panel to see how good it was. I am a long time Coleman collector and this fits just right! Brand power at its best! I have had it about 2 weeks and have it connected to my campers battery. The camper has a stereo system which requires a “hot” lead to maintain memory so this creates a drain on the battery. After this panel, no more worries about the drain! This panel in full sun is putting out 22.65volts and drops to 17.3 on a cloudy day, even when it was raining!I ordered two more and expect them to arrive tomorrow. I will build a frame to attach the panels to and hook all of them to my battery bank (3 D/C NG27). I expect to be able to use them for a generator (less) week of camping next month! If it fails then expect me to update this review! I think ICP could have had a better way of connecting multiple panels though. Coleman dosen’t supply the gang plug, so I have to cut the plug ends off and hardwire them together. Not too much of an issue though.

I am still testing the merits of this purchase. I Bought it to keep my boat battery charged , since I use the boat infrequently. I may have needed to buy a larger panel to get more charging power…

I just got this panel. Put it out in the Georgia sun, and its putting out over 22 volts. As with everything I get from Amazon, it came on time and in perfect condition. So far I’m very happy.

This Coleman unit is rated at 600ma and a total power of 9 Watts. Buyers will be pleasantly surprised. The fair price for weatherproof solar panels is $10/watt…so this one qualifies although has been discontinued. My lack of a full five stars is because Coleman seems to overrate their panels by about 20%…or else they take it down to the equator to measure the power.

The unit is more or less what I expected and appears to be working well for my application as a trickle charger for my deep-cycle marine battery operating an ornamental iorn entry gate. This unit DOES NOT work with the Sunsei Solar Grip bracket which is listed as working with the Coleman Solar Panels (both are ICP Solar products); the bracket extexsions are not long enough. I was able to frabricate a simple clamp for the panel which did work with the bracket however.

I purchased one of these about 8 months ago, along with the Sunforce digital 30-A controller and Duracell 800-w inverter to use on our motorhome when in campgrounds with no hookups or when boondocking. Works great! Really nice to have the extra freedom, and to not run the noisy/smelly generator. Provided plenty of battery charge for lighting, furnace fans, laptop, TV, etc for week long trip to Oregon outback in September. Have also used for numerous 3 – 5 day stays in California and Arizona in Feb – Apr. I built a portable/adjustable stand that takes only a few minutes to set up.
